Hello! I'm Scott
It is my desire to secure a position as a teacher in technology education, where I can utilize my skills, experience and passion to reach students on an educational and personal level.
It is also my hope to join a positive and welcoming environment where I can contribute and collaborate, not just with the students, but with co-workers alike.
Additionally, my aim here is to present you with a vision for how, together, we can implement a program that encompasses wide-ranging curriculum that incorporates traditional practices such as trades and construction systems, while introducing new-age learning that includes drones, animation, cybersecurity, coding, 3D printing, and more!
EXPERIENCE
2021-Present
Technology Education Teacher
SALAMANCA CITY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
As a STEAM/Technology teacher for grades 4 through 7 at a diverse international award winning school district (ITEEA STEM School of Excellence), I have had the opportunity to work with students from a variety of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, as we explored state-of-the-art technology curriculum, ranging from cybersecurity to 3D printing, animation, and beyond.
2013-2021
Custodian / Building Maintainer
OLEAN CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Nearly 8 years of service dedicated to making Olean High School a safe, clean, and functioning environment for students and staff.
It is here where my interest in education took hold and my desire to transition into the teaching realm was ignited.
2006-2013
Business (Restaurant) Owner
MAIN STREET OF OLEAN, LLC
As managing partner involved in all aspects of the business, 21st century skills, particularly collaboration, perserverance and social responsibility, were essential. These skills aided my transition into education and not only strengthened my ability to perform as a teacher, but also made up the foundation of lessons and activities that I presented to my students.

WHAT MAKES ME A GOOD TEACHER?
PASSION
With the world becoming increasingly reliant on technology, it is imperative that we prepare our students accordingly. From understanding the latest tech gadgets to recognizing how technology effects the world in which we live, it is my strong belief that every student should have a basic understanding of the technological advances we are making as a society as well as the roots in which these advances were founded.
PERSONALITY
A school environment is unique in that you are working with both adults and kids. Knowing how to balance, and intertwine, your personality into both of these demographics can be challenging. Fitting in and working together with colleagues is very important to maintaining positive professional relationships, as is being able to relate to students. My friendly, out-going nature suits this environment well and allows me to connect with both colleagues and students.
RELATIONSHIPS
The personal connections you make with your students are just as important as the content in which you teach - if not more so. They must believe that you are knowledgeable in your content area, but they also must believe that you care. Gain their trust, their respect, their confidence. Once an honest relationship is achieved, teaching a student becomes so much easier.
EXTRACURRICULARS
The role of teacher is not just that of a classroom facilitator and instructor, but someone who is involved in all aspects of student life. As such, I feel that offering students unique opportunities to experience the technology curriculum in exciting, new ways is important. By offering an after-school Maker Space program and planning exciting field trips, this will strengthen the student's interest in the technology program.
Additionally, becoming involved in ways that are not directly related to the classroom will help foster relationships. Becoming a class advisor, being involved with the SAC, coaching a sports team, implementing a fun ritual, planning social events, and organizing community outreach programs are all ways that I plan on being involved with our students.
